New member! Questions!

Hello Focus Fanatics,
I just got a 2009 Ford Focus SES pretty much brand new and have some questions.
I want to do a few things but dont know exactly what to do.
I have the chrome mirrors and door handles but that is the extent of my modifications. I dont want to go crazy but I want to make it my own.

Few ideas:
Projector headlights or better, whiter halogen bulbs
Brighter, whiter halogen or other fog lights
Integrated turn signal mirrors possible??
Weathertech Digital Fit Floormats
Fender vent....I have heard mixed views but I think I like it. I dont know...ideas?
LED's for tail lights, front markers, parking, etc from Putco.com
Since there is no dome light in the back I wanted to put these in the map lights and hopefully be able to see in the back.
LED license plate lights.
I like the look of this Focus too.
Maybe heated seats and leather?
Dash kit, as well as window belt molding trim.
Back up sensors, rearview camera, or both.

I think thats it for now.
Any ideas about what I said or other ideas would be appreciated!

Oh, and I know its a stupid question but how do you know if you have DRL's and is there a way to have automatic headlamps or etc like on the EDGE or Flex?

welcome!

do you have a sedan or coupe? (so people don't jump on me about this, im only asking because he has chrome bits on his car and he has an ses)

the projector's can actually be found cheaper here and many members on the sight have them

as for everything else the only thing i can really say is if you want led license plate bulbs i'd go with 3910-x6 festoon bulbs

the 3d carbon kits will def. make your car stand out from the crowd

people will chime in about the fog lights and suggest you go with hid's in them (that includes the headlights too)

not sure about the mirrors

i belive someone has those types of floormats but dont quote me

and as for the map lights i went with superbrightleds wedge bulbs. I'm not sure how to fix the back but like i said, i'm sure someone will chime in.

Good list though!!! and once again welcome

congrats on the FoFo (that's short for Ford Focus). I'll get to the DRLs first. It was not standered on US spec focus but was standered on Canadian models. You would know if your headlights were on all the time regardless if the switch was on or not, usually at half brightness. You can have the dealership activate it in the computer, but then you cannot reverse it ever. Meaning once its programmed, it can't be changed back!

As for the rest I will get back to you tonight when I get home from work (3hrs).
Enjoy your car and have fun making it your own.

Hi and thank you,

I have a sedan.

I saw some members have them but wasnt sure on performance, warranty status, resell status, etc. eBay good for headlights??

Why the 3910-x6 festoon bulbs?

I just like the front of the Focus like that on the OEM and 3D Carbon kit.

Why HID's in the headlights and fogs as opposed to LED's?

I cant find anything on the integrated mirrors (signal) but alwasy like them on cars.

There is no back so I was hoping to find a good map light to brighten the cabin and back as well.

Sorry if some things are stupid but I like opinions and I know some what about cars but just like to ask, ya know?

I know the DRL's usually light up at half capacity but in the manual it said it was optional and wasnt sure if there was a programable thing or whatever.

So if I turn them on I cant ever turn them off? Should I do it? Free? Good thing to do or waste of time?

Thank you!

sweet need moar pics!

and no worries dude this is what this forum is all about. I sadly can't help you out with some of these things because the only thing i've done is the map, dome and license plate lights in my car.

They say HID's in the projector's because the output from the halogens are terrible (from what i've read) and hid's are apparently better in fogs. Idk, i'm not going to try it lol

why 3910? this is why

that's my car, apparently the 3610's gave people flickering issues so i just upgraded to a larger size and they've been on point for almost 4 months now

these are my map lights in the front from superbrightleds.com

very bright as you can see but the light isn't able to shine the bright very much without the dome light. I guess you could install your own? i find it weird how it doesnt have a dome light in the rear and its a sedan, then again. there are alot of things about our cars that ford mixed and matched haha.

as for the drl's.....idk what those are haha so i think st12131 will have something to say later.

and as for the warranty for the headlights i believe they send you a new one if something happened to your current one. but someone who actually owns them needs to chime in on that one

I am working on the pictures. Probably tomorrow, I need to clean it!
I know I don’t like the output of light; I want some bright, nice looking headlights, fog lights, tail lights, etc. I
These don’t flicker right? I head if you replace the license plate lights with some varied lights they flicker and burn out after awhile…..
I like the bright white look of the plate.
I want to get mine form Putco…..heard of them? (map lights)
So do they get to the back, are they bright and are you able to see. I want to be able to see in the back cause there is no dome light which never will make sense to me.
One thing I wanted was the leather and moon roof!!! Hmmm..! I don’t want to mess with the liner and what not to install my own, maybe nut I don’t know.
What I meant by warranty was how does changing the Focus, i.e. lights, headlights, tail lights, etc effect warranty and resell value or reselling to dealer?

Thanks.

Lights and such will not effect the warranty. However if you put aftermarket ones in and they burn up the dealer obviously will not replace them.

As far as resale its generally any money you spend in modifying a car will decrease about that much from the resale value. Modding DOES NOT pay. Unless it looks stock and the buyer doesn't notice ;)

So adding lights and such will decrease the value? What if I put it all back the way it was? Same value?
