Loud road noise

Hello fellow FF'ers,
I have a VERY LOUD and annoying road noise on my 2010 SEL, sounds like roaring "4x4 truck tire" or bearing noise beginning at 35mph or so. I took it to the dealership a few months ago and they "said" they changed the front bearings and spindles, and the noise seemed to quiet down a bit, but now its crazy loud agian! I have had the tires rotated and balanced, and keep 34 psi in them as recommended. Anyone else have or knows about an issue like this one?
Thanks in advance!

Turns out the noise was a worn out, leaking right front "drive axle bearing assy".

Welcome to the site!
is it the stock tires you are running? i had a set of tires that did this but then switched to a different type and its not nearly as bad. There is always going to be some noise with our cars as they are a ecobox not a luxury vehicle. SEL or not they all came with the same amount of sound proofing. You could dynamat the entire floor of the car along with the doors and it will be sooo much quieter. If your not handy enough to install on your own, many audio shops and best buy will install it. I recommend getting it off amazon though. 36sqft is $300 from stores and shops. The same bulk box of 36sqft is $125 shipped on amazon

If the bearings are new and it is still doing it, I'd recommend looking into the tires.

For what it's worth, my 4x4 has 10 ply light truck mud tires. They ROAR down the highway. They are significantly quieter than the Firestone Winterforce that I have on my Focus.

I like the idea of dynamating everything, would it really make that big of a difference?

Man I am going to have to get on that, to do the floor, doors and ceiling im guessing 2 rolls of 36 square feet would do. Does Dynamat have self adhesive backing or is there a special glue?

I was looking on ebay for Dynamat and saw the Fatmat (good reviews from what I have seen so far).... Same thing or not as high quality? Looks to be a lot cheaper.

you are going to hear a war on this topic lol
the best price around on dynmat is the 136 on amazon and after you figure up the price per ft it ends up being the same and the lesser products. Order you one or two of the bulk kits on amazon and you will be good to go!

Thanks for the replies,
I took it back to the dealership today to see if they can narrow the noise down, since it still has extended service plan on it. They mentioned a possible intermediate shaft bearing going out. I left it with them, hopefully get some news tomorrow.
As far as the tires go- I put new ones on not long after I bought it last year, thinking that was the cause of the "roaring" noise, since they were likely the originals (Koumo's) and were looking worn out.
I ended up buying a set of 4 Goodyear Authority's from Walmart, which have a assymetrical tread design. Does this type of design have known noise issues?
Also, this car was a Hertz rental before I bought it from the dealership, so CarFax reports.
I have had my share of "Eco Cars", and this is the loudest whine, roaring noise ever!
I'll keep y'all posted...
