stay out of the sun as much as possible, abd polish it once a month, wax it every two weeks. if it fades, and you take care of it, then it wont happen for at least a 2-4 years, and more if its a good brand. if it fades, wetsand it down and you can get it clear coated for 100-200 bucks, and itll look new. you can even get an extra few coats of clear, so if it spot fades you can wetsand it down to another coat and buff/polish

From what I've read, the temperature extremes caused by our winters (as low as 0 degrees on the outside of the hood, over 100 degrees underneath the hood) will wear our the material faster than normal. I was considering a CF hood...but I'd rather not take all that time to care for it.

Well, when I had a Seibon Carbon Fiber hood for my Evolution (OEM), It lasted 2 years with the proper care like 1hotfocus has stated. Could of lasted longer but thats when I totaled it.

Stay away from low end brand because their UV clearcoat sucks!!! I know Seibon sells high quality CF parts. My civic used A LOT of their CF parts (Grille, Hood, Door Panels, Trunk, Fenders, and Roof.) They lasted the whole time I owned the car. Well over 4 years untill I sold the car.

As far as cold area's I do know when my Evo was in Germany I had no problem.
