New hood scoop installed

While I was on the repair shop to fix a fender bender I noticed that the guys over there had this hood scoop available for free which was from a wrecked car not usable for the original car any more.

The idea of this install was more performance driven than looks but I'm posting it in the Exterior Body chat as I believe that the ultimate and proven way to cool a charge for forced induction is with the use of an inter/after cooler; I have chosen to install this particular hood scoop over any other hood scoop available because it sits right on top of the intended components to cool (JRSC BBK, injectors, throttle body, air filter box to throttle body pipe, etc). This is a theory of mine that will be hard to test in terms of performance and will remain just like that a theory but since several engines (like early Porsches and VWs) and brake systems (Lambo F22 rims designed to draw air to the rotors, plus air ram ducts to the brakes on several race cars) are air cooled this hood scoop is got to do something for cooling

I'm sure a lot of you will identify the origins of the scoop but I do not want to state it as it is not my intention to try to brand my car as the original car where it came from; again as I mentioned this scoop fits the bill over other scoops I saw because of the orientation of the blower and other intake components and this scoop sits perfectly right on top of all of them

Anyways I think some of you will not like this install while some others may like it but I did it anyways. The scoop has being installed now for a couple of months and so far I have received few good comments, the car definitively turn heads and you will judge why after you have seen the pics but for me the design lines of the hood scoop match well with the design lines of the hood and the rest of the car

This is the URL where you can see pics of the install and some other pics of my ride

Cheers

holy crap I love it!

What are you going to do about a rain guard for it? I only ask because it's exposing the coilpack, spark plug wires, MAF sensor and such.

I'm actually going to be installing a big vent on my hood tomorrow and spent all last night building a rain guard using aluminum flashing. It's a little flimsy but cutting up some hangers and JB welding them on there did the trick to reinforce it. Just an idea in case you want to work something up.

Nice wheels too!

I love the fact that this scoop is functional. I don't really like the overall look of it I think it looks a little oversized on the hood. But I applaud your work! Thank you for putting a scoop on a car that actually serves a purpose.

^^Kinda like Me(or Anyone else, for that matter) giving You crap for boosting by saying, "It's a Focus, not a Mazdaspeed3" or people giving Me crap for My red grille stripe by saying, "It's not a GTI." or My red rims by saying, "It's not a Hot Rod". I usually respond with, "Well then I guess it's a good thing it's not Your car."

I cannot convey how much I appreciate that this is a functional hood scoop. Who really cares how it looks if 1)it works and 2) You like it.
