Daytime Running Lights on 2009...

I just purchased a 2009 SES sedan. How do I turn off my daytime running lights (DRL)? Can't figure it out, but I know I have seen either 2009's or 2010's without their DRL on.

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but some cars come with DRLs and some don't.

The only way that I've seen someone disable their DRLs (on 2008+ models) was by opening up their ECU and desoldering some pin or something. I'm sure the How-to is around here somewhere. IIRC the person who did it had made a pdf of how it was done.

Why do you want to disable them? Do they really bother you that much?

It's controlled by a relay inside the smart junction box attached to a circuit board. ALOT of work, and risky for what it's worth.

Are DRLs mandatory where you live? They may be sold with or without DRLs depending where you live.

Thanks for the help. I'm not able to turn them off on the light control by turning it counter-clockwise. I live in Texas and they aren't required by law here, but just wondering if it was something as simple as pulling a fuse.

My wife took the car the other night to the store and realized she drove there with just the DLR on. Not sure why she didn't notice the dash cluster wasn't illuminated. Looks like I will just go with them always being on and have to educate the wife on turning on lights when it is dark out. Ha.

Thanks guys.
