08+ Focus eBay spoiler installed

So, I took the plunge and bought me an factory-style spoiler for my 08 SE.
This thing came pre-painted, and after shipping/duties costed me in the area of 150-160 CAD.
My overall impressions on the spoiler are good.
  • The colour matches (nearly) perfectly. The vista blue on the car kinda changes depending on your viewing angle, while the spoiler doesn't do that so much. Its only slightly noticeable.
  • The kit doesn't come with a template, so it takes a bit more time to measure and find the right spot.
  • The bolts go where the factor spoiler's would have, so theres no drilling through 2 sheets of metal.
  • Shipping was fast with these guys (Amcautomotive) , and the spoiler came well packaged and protected

Pretty straightforward in terms of install; a whole lot of measuring and painting (RUST PROOFING, hopefully) and heres some pics documenting the process :P (The car was washed, and the trunk lid waxed/claybarred)

Before

The spoiler came with the mounting bolts, washers, and some hole-guides (cardboard with an adhesive ring around the hole).

Removed trunk lid liner (you have to remove those tabs). I found that a wrench worked a lot better than a flat-head screwdriver for removing the tabs.

Spoiler back on trunk. I measured both sides a good number of times to make sure I liked where it was sitting, and that it was centred (The kit didn't come with a drill template)

Taped down the hole-guides, and carefully removed the spoiler from the guides

Lined the trunk compartment with a large sheet of plastic to catch the metal shavings.
After re-measuring for the Nth time, drilled the first hole
I used a 3/32 drill bit here. Again, measure again and again until sure of the positioning.

Larger 7/32 hole drilled. shavings were vacuumed to avoid scratching the paint

I coated the now-bare metal with 2 layers of automotive primer, 3 layers of touchup paint, and 2 layers of clearcoat (using a brush for all of these)
Hopefully that keeps the rust away.

I used a guide (rolled up piece of paper fit to the hole) to show the bolt to the hole. This was just to prevent the bolt/washer from falling off and into that gap between the 2 sheets of metal

I lined the area around the hole with some clear (non-paint-eating) silicone and stuck the washer onto it. Tight-enough seal I hope.

Afterwards, just screwed the bolts into the hole, just far enough so that the spoiler can be placed on top. Next, proceeded to screw the bolts into the spoiler.
Cleaned everything off with some cleaners wax. The claybar is coming soon

Nice job. I wonder if those would fit the 00-07 models?

^^I wonder too, I like them better. I looked at one up close though, and they have a funky set up on the post, making me think they won't work. Maybe Islandfocus would know, he was selling them, plus had an early Focus to compare.

It was about 130-140 USD shipped + about 20 CAD for customs charges.
