Thumbs down DDM Raptor HID

I have the angel eye projectors in my 2008 sedan and being on a college budget, I was thinking about filling them with these:

http://www.ddmtuning.com/index.php?p...=102&parent=85

My projectors have h9 bulbs from what the seller told me. I want to buy these soon because I am also getting the Sylvania silver star turn signals and want to install both at the same time so I don't have to pull the lights too many times.

Anybody who already has these, please let me know how your experience is going. I've read mostly positive reviews with some negative but basically none from focus owners.

Thanks!

I have the ddm 55watt kit and havn't had any problems, also had the 35watt kit. For $30 and lifetime warranty you cant beat that. A lot of ppl at hidplanet seem to love them.

do not get the Raptor kits!!!

get the slim kit. the raptor kit's ballasts are huge and you will just be more happier with the slims.

i always recommend DDM to everyone. their prices are superb and you cant beat a lifetime warranty. just dont get the raptors. DDMTuning adopted the brand from what i believe to be a buyout and they are having issues getting rid of them.

get the slims and your gold

Thanks a ton guys! Is it true that the 55w wash out colors? Like would it be smart to go an option or two above what I want, e.g. 8k instead of 6k? and are 55w that much brighter? Oooo and how much harder is it to install 55w instead of 35?

Thanks again

Installs for 55w and 35w are identical. As for washout, you're talking a 75% increase in power and lumens, there's quite a bit of washout. They have the guide on the site when you're looking at colors that shows what each temp will look like on both 35w and 55w kits, and that's pretty darn accurate. If you're going for a 6k look but get the 55w system, I would order something between 7-8k to get what you're going for. For anything under 6k, if you add 1k to it, you'll pretty much be set (i.e., if you want a 4k look, get 5k 55w, or if you want 5k, get a 6k 55w). 6k is just that magic point where it starts to wash a little more.

Don't you have to install a relay for the 55w kit?

thanks for the info by the way.

no relay is needed. the OEM bulbs pull 55w themselves.

all the raptor kits i've had (4) have had slim ballasts, i've owned many brands over the years from expensive to not so much and the raptor kit is certainly worth the price
