08-10 chrome front grille swapout to darker one (where can i get it cheaper?)

i have an 09 with the chrome 2 bar grille, i wanna get the gun metal looking one to match my halo projectors i just installed. i tried painting the grille but i have a feeling its not gonna turn out to great seeing as the paint started to bubble over night dew to the moisture in my garage or going to fast between coats (20 mins)... 170 from the dealer seems steep im wondering if anyone has a hook up or knows where to get um cheaper....

ill post pics of the finished product when its done

Search out Mike from Hilbish Ford on here, I think he was able to get them around $100. I can get them but it is about $125 plus shiping.

Mike isnt in parts any more. Um, you could sand the chrome off of there, but that takes a while. I know that some people have used a torch to remove chrome, but its pretty tough. Keep an eye on ebay as well

Yes nite-shades works but it does not like to stay on chrome (which is handy in some cases - like the Ford emblems - you can get rid of the blue and still have the chrome Ford name and chrome rim around them). To nite-shade my grille I found that clear coating afterwards was a requirement to avoid any trouble with the nite-shades coming off.
