09 SE - Adding FogLights?

MY 09 SE has "grey" inserts where the Fog Light cut outs on the SEL and SES models go. I have not really looked into it but how hard would it be to install Fog Lights and wiring?

Is there a way to install them so they can be switched on without the headlights?

Thanks

it shouldnt be to hard to do it, but id take it to ford and ask them for a price.

As far a them running independent of the headlights, its pretty involed. Someone did a write up on it, he pulled the cars computer out and re-wired it.

I'd would look into getting a aftermarket kit, it be alot cheaper and easier to install.

We dealer-installed a few kits on some 08 SEs, it was pretty easy. You pop the factory grey pieces off and the foglamps and new trims bolt right on, run your wiring and install the new headlamp switch with foglight provision, and hook up about 3 wires, and you're done. If you wanted to wire them up differently I'd still get the factory lights, trim, and some connectors for the lights, and wire up as you like. Aftermarket fogs can look pretty horrible if not done right.

I asked for the prices at my dealership for my '08 s.... and its going to run you somewhere between $350-$400..... can't remember what it was exactly, and then labor on top unless you install yourself....

could he not hard wire it and ground it with a switch? i did that to my escort with some walmart fogs? just had a ground and a wire directly to my battery I mean it was tacky because i was young but they worked just would not turn off when car did i had to switch them on and off. reason i ask is i know you good with lighting and what not?

he could, that would be the aftermarket style install. But you dont want it wired to the battery without a swtich and a fuse. That is why I said to get a aftermarket kit.

Thanks for the advice. At this point, I am not really confident in my wiring skills. I am more of a body/paint guy.
