08 interior ?.... in dash pass. side DVD/GPS??

i removed my right side panel with the "focus" logo..

there's a space reserved behind the panel for a video screen, and a cut out for the wires... and pre drilled mounting holes....

i've searched and searched.. and can't find anyone who sells the video screen installation kit..

i didn't want an indash gps, or dvd..but now that i know its possible.. and ford thought ahead about it....

who sells them???

That's really interesting, I had no idea! I'm curious to get behind the panel in my '09 to see if the same applies.

I have no idea about who would sell and item to fit, but I'll start looking.

no digi camera... no phone camera.. :(

its basically a rectangular cut out behind the panel with predrilled mounting holes... and the bottom is cut out for the wires to access directly behind the audio center...

to remove the panel, remove your glove box (3 bolts 7mm at bottom ).. and behind the panel there is ONE 7 mm bolt to remove.. and the panel should pop out along with the vent.

thats strange. ford hasnt made an indash gps for the focus, and with the new euro focus coming over i dont see why they would offer one anytime soon. my guess is it's a coincidence or it's made for something else.

Oh great. Thanks a lot! Now I'm going to have to tear my dash apart. After which I'm sure I'll have to spend more money to fill that "space".

When my wife asks, I'm just giving her your screen name. You deal with her!

hell if I know Brad, he's probably out exploring right now. LOL.

hehe, I guess more hints that ford leaves for us then. IE, the little line on the 00-04 foci headlights that marked a perfect line for painting eyelids on and this square section on the passenger side of my rear bumper, on the side..... there's like this box thing with a cylindrical hole cut into it.... apparently begging for a passenger side-exit exhaust

LOL - I'd respond to that but I'm too busy in my Motorcraft tech manual right now. So far I can tell you that the empty spot located back there is for the accessory protocol interface module (APIM). Now I just have to figure out what the hell an APIM is. I believe it would associated with the Sync system, but don't quote me.

I found a blurb about the APIM:

An in-dash interface, such as Sync, would certainly simplify diagnosis. If a device works as a hand-held but not in the car, all you'd have to do is test the connection (wireless or wired) in another car to isolate the problem area. The heart of the Sync system is the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module), located behind the right instrument trim panel. There also are Sync-specific steering wheel controls, a microphone in the rear view mirror, the USB port and an audio jack. So some simplicity is lost.

there ya go...
