Ford Sync Accessory Kit

So I just bought my focus a few months ago, Just got the basic SE. I should've just added on the sync when I got the car, but decided against it. I have a little extra spending money, and asked about the kit for my car, and was told they'd give it to me for $200 installed. I think its a good deal, but have no idea what the kit looks like, or if it even works good.

Anyone have any experience with it? If so, do you like it, and do you think its worth it?

Thanks!

Hmm, sounds fishy to me. Sync is like $395 on the new cars and you would need the buttons on the steering wheel etc and the installation would be be expensive too. I hope it works out for you though. That said sync is awesome and I don't ever want a car without it. It works really well and is very easy.

I ended up finding this site...

http://www.ford-parts-direct.com/pro...roductTypeID=6

I guess thats what it is, and they just put in into the car. They told me it would usually be around $500 to install it afterwards. They also said you don't need the steering wheel controls. Just control is by the radio like I normally do.

So I was just wondering if this kit was actually any good. If its comparable to a factory installed one.

Thanks though!

I was told it would only work in 2008-2009 models.

The steering wheel is where the voice/media button is to use the voice command feature so I'm guessing you would have to do everything manually and youare limited to what you can do while the car is moving if not using the hands free feature.

it is definitely not worth spending that much on SYNC, imo it was just a ridiculous marketing ploy by a struggling company. Two of the cars at our house have it and the system just seems kind of impractical. It's neat don't get me wrong... just more programming than play

True. Maybe I won't do it. I have my iphone that I just plug into the Auxilliary, and I can still kinda talk through the radio.

Maybe i'll just use the extra cash to do some other kinda mods.

Thanks

How much programming does it take, I plugged my ipod in and it loaded all of the id3 tags into its memory. then I paired my phone and imported my contacts. That was on the day that I got my car, I haven't had to change anything after that (except when I add songs to my iPod, it has to reload the id3 tags) I think its a great feature, when I had my rental I was lost without it.

Do you know how long it would take to add 2,500 songs? And when you add songs to your mp3 player, does it have to update everything all over again, or does it know when you added a few new songs?
