Unhappy Instrument Cluster swap, now ABS and Brake lights on

Hey,

I have a 2001 Ford Focus LX / Manual (manual everything for that matter...) that came with the baseline instrument cluster w/o the tachometer. I went ahead and ordered a new I.C. with the tach and installed it, and now my ABS and Brake warning lights are always on. They weren't on with the old I.C. although I haven't reinstalled the old I.C. to check if it will go back to normal. Before I revert, can anybody give me some clues as to how to get the new I.C. working?

When I first got the car, I installed some fuses into the slots that were empty even though my car doesn't really have that feature (i.e. ABS). I took that fuse out and a few others I *think* I don't need, but I'm not really sure if I pulled all of the ones I installed myself. Can somebody with an LX do me a BIG favor and check their car to see which slots should be populated and number them here for me please(under the hood and the passenger fuse boxes)!?!?!?

TIA

I'm not sure the Internet dealer gave me the right part either. The part number I have for the new I.C. is 98AB-10849-HK. Can anybody confirm if this is the right one? Where the AdvanceTrack light should be as in the manual, I have a squiggly line instead, like a pigtail (for electrical?).

If you look in your manual it will tell you what slot is used for what. You can check the ones you dont think you need, and they will not have metal contacts in them.

Thanks WhiteZX3. Most of the slots didn't have any metal contacts, but for the ones that did I stuck in the fuses. As far as the I.C., I put my old one back in and the problem went away. I talked to the dealer that sold me that part and they said that it was the correct part. I may have to go to the local dealer for some troubleshooting.

try reseting the ecu.that could probably make the abs and brake lights go away.

How do you reset the ECU? Disconnect the battery?

I just got back from the local dealer and he said that I got a 2000 part. I think that's the reason why too because the I.C. doesn't have a light for AdvanceTrac, so certainly there have been changes to the cluster since 2000. All I'm hoping for is to have the Internet dealer do an exchange with me. I know most places don't so that's $230 down the drain if they refuse.

I have a 2004 LX and just did a swap to get a tach, and I'm having the same problem with the lights. Did you have any luck getting the lights turned off? I tried resetting by disconnecting the battery and that did no good.
