OEM instrument cluster options and milage question

Anyone know if the '01 SE sedan had an OEM option for the instrument cluster that contained a tach?

Here's my quandary...

Had an '01 SE sedan I got on a CD. Took parts, etc, for use on my wagon. The instrument cluster had a tach, so I took it, (since my SE wagon did NOT have the tach). The odometer on the sedans cluster read 142k. The milage was not on the CD title, (age of car, and maybe because it was a CD).

I put the engine into an '00 and, after it sat outside covered on my rear patio for about 9 months, it started right up as if it was shut off yesterday. Awesome! So I took the instrument cluster that was with that engine and put it in the '00 so the mileage would match the engine, (even though the whole vehicle has 98k).

Was at the local pull yard the other day looking for something unrelated, and I noticed that of the 14 or so MK1 focus they have there, only the hatchback ZXTs, (there were two or three, one might have been an SVT), had a tach in them. None of the sedans. So this made me wonder about the sedan I had earlier in the year.

I called the dealer, and they told me that only two instrument clusters were shown for the SE and/or ST Sedan focus of that generation, both only listed the speedometer as present, but could not say without question that they did or did not have a tach.

So, all this leads me to believe that this cluster that has a tach on it was changed at some point post-production on this sedan, and the engine may or may not have 142k miles on it actual.

Two questions for yalls:

Can anyone confirm that the SE sedan was NOT available with a tach from the factory?

Are there any possible ways to gauge the engines actual miles, even if just a ball park figure? Guessing there is not, but figured I'd ask the experts here.

The sedan was in a flood, so the under side of the car was pretty rusted. The interior was very clean, (stinky, but clean), both axles were still in very good shape. Hard to say what has been serviced on the engine, but I know the timing belt looks and feels good, the DPFE had been changed at least once because it had the new style pig tail, and the suspension was in great shape. Engine is getting 20+ mpg, too. I do remember all three mounts were junk.

Don't remember much else about the car. I do still have the PCM and matching key/lock cylinder, if these might offer some glimpse into this information....

No, No, No.

Tachs avail. in everything, but the IDIOTS considered them a luxury feature and installed with automatic transmissions. Even marked them "High Line" and "Low Line" on the cluster tags.

The only time/mileage meter for an engine is the one attached to it or the vehicle it's used in.

If you want the tach cluster to match the original cluster of the vehicle I can transfer the mileage to it.

However since I need both clusters it would mean some downtime while they get shipped to me, I do my work, and ship them back.

Thanks for the info.

My local pull yard says I can return a cluster if it's not a match, or get credit for their place if none match, so that's the route I'm going to go. The counter people are pretty flexible up there, especially if they see you weekly, (like me, I love that place).

I don't drive much, less than 5k miles a year, so not gonna worry much about the age of the engine. This was more of a curiosity thing. Hopefully I can get a tach that has close to the 98k the car has.

What is the fee for this service, and what is the turn-around time?
