Wire harness for power windows and locks 2003 ZX3

Hi everyone,

Today I was working on my stereo install in my doors and came accross something interesting.

My car doesn't have power windows or locks. The harness in the door only has 2 wires on it. Speaker wires. Now this is where I have a question about. The wire harness inside the car to the plug that goes to the door is fully wired as if my car HAS power windows and locks. I also checked the fuse slots for the windows and the car has those fuses. My question is: If I get new power window regulators and the window switches for my car and a harness for inside the door for power windows will it be just a plug and play setup since car is already wired for windows and locks?

If It can be easily upgrade it will completly change the layout of my speakers in the doors.

Mark

Sure looks like you have the wiring in the car, from the size of that bundle it looks like there's one for all the pin locations.

The only pins that are missing is pin 10 & 14. Are those pins needed for any power accessory in the door? Also, is there anything else I should look for in the car to help verify the power window and locks wiring in the car?

I have been reading a lot of threads about this with little answers. I did find out my car has the GEM for manual locks. Last 2 letters of model number is ZD. I have seen that the GEM for power locks has last 2 letters JD. Can I just change the GEM in my car to the one with power locks? I know I would still have to add all of the switches and add correct power locks. Another question. Do the power windows run through the GEM? I really only want the power windows. Not to worried about the locks.

Hi Freemind,

If you can find your door harness can you look and see if you are missing any wires in any pins? The harness in my car is missing pin 10 & 14.

Thanks

Power windows don't involve the GEM afaik, there isn't a function that would need to control on this model.

Does the RHS have similar full wiring?

Plenty of wiring to connect everything, between the windows/locks from the driver switches and the electric mirrors.

Seen some odd missing wires even when most is present, some that had plug ins for fog lights still were missing a wire to the headlight switch - different harnesses involved.

Hi Sailor,

Yes the passenger side has similar wires in the plug though not as many which I probably think it is do too not having the same features as the drivers door. Will try and get pictures of that plug today.

Makes sense, not as many features on that side.

Just doing the usual 'check the silly stuff' to make sure it has a LOT more than used to match what you found on the driver's side.
