Center Console

So when I bought my 2007 zx4 the center console was all busted up so I simply removed it. I liked the extra room for the handbrake anyway but all my passengers always say they wish I had an armrest. Any suggestions for an armrest or center console that doesn't cover the handbrake.

some other fords had armrest which folded up and out of the way built into the seat side. maybe it would be worth a look to see if it will fit into the focus so you can have the armrest for passenger and hand brake access for you

You need new passengers, no one has ever said anything about an armrest in my car. lol

Last time I looked Ebay UK had some retrofit armrests since their MK1 didn't have them OEM.

I replaced the centre console in my 04 SVT with one that had an armrest and it didn't cause any issues with accessing the handbrake, see my pics of it here Installing armrest in 04 SVT Focus. If I remember correctly I grabbed it out of an 05/06.

yeah the center console from the mk1's should all be interchangeable( 00-07.) When I first got my focus i went through some arm rest withdraw as my last car had one but now i dont think i could go back. Besides, with the short shifter, im sure it could be a funny angle.

I've never had a problem while shifting, my elbow clears the armrest fine even when I'm doing quick shifts.

Yeah I gave up on the center console idea. I'm not really missing it at all either, plus I just installed a short throw and I think if the console was still there it would be even more annoying.

E brake slide was impossible a console car....

I can drive the Focus hours on end and not once I thought of an armrest, the Recaro bolsters keeps my arm propped up at a comfortable angle. I like my Euro console, the US one looks weird I had to look past it when considering a Focus.
