Fixing B pillar interior

Interior B pillar have a missing screw which seems to have felt inside. I'm afraid to have to retire the entire thing to find the screw and mount it again. It's a 3 door hatchback. I promise some pictures if needed.

My questions:

is any special tool required?

is too messy to do it myself?

any special recommendation to take in account?
