2013 ST seats in a Mk1 ?

So I've been thinking about swapping 13 ST seats in a mk1 ever since the ST's came out . I've finally come across a set from a crashed ST. It's a local partout and the guy wants $900 for the front and rear seats . Problem is the drivers side seat airbag went off so the seat is damaged but looks like it could easily be stitched up again . my question is regarding the rails . Could the mk1 rails be put on The ST seats ? I haven't had the chance to look at the bottom of a mk1 seat to see if they unbolt or how they are mounted to the seat. Otherwise i would have to do a custom bracket . Any input would be appreciated .

Man that would be awesome! I'd love to see something like that, however I'm sure you'd have to do some custom fabrication because the seat mounting points from an MK3 ST to an MK1 are very different because of the body style. Take a look at your seat brackets or images of seat brackets online there's gotta be some pictures floating around somewhere on the net. It would also help if you had access to loose MK1 seats as well, this way you can figure it out with out doing anything to the seats in your car.

Haha i'm not the only one wanting to try this. I bought mine today, it's definitely going to need some custom work to make it happen that i don't have the skills for. I haven't tried to see if I could take more off than just the rails to see if that is plausible to swap entire brackets. Even the width of the rails is off by about 1.5". More narrow on the ST seats actually.

I'll follow your thread for sure ! I'm starting to have second thoughts based on the price and of course the airbags . I can faintly remember tearing apart a stock seat at a junkyard years ago and I think the bottom cushion was all one piece and apart of the lower frame somehow .

Also can you take a look at your ST seats and see how the frame mounts to the bottom of the seat . Pics would be killer !

I think you are right, and don't expect anything fast from me. I think i have had turbo parts for over a year now un-installed, hood, fenders, spoiler that i have yet to install and or even get painted. I am hoping to move quicker now that i'm done with my little truck projects minus doing brakes and the weather is finally cooler in Florida.

For sure, the ST seats i'll have pictures up tomorrow. I should have took some pictures comparing the two when i pulled the svt seats out briefly at the yard to compare. [? |] But i was kind of in the moment of thinking about getting them and getting a price out of them. I will take much better pictures from here on out and give some dimensions. The driver's seat is powered in the ST so i'm guessing it should still match the original bolt pattern when it was removed but i could be wrong.
