Seat options...

I'm really getting sick of my stock seats, between the lack of real grip and lack of padding (or the ability to retain said padding.) So I'm looking at Focus Sport's selection, and I think I have my mind set on the Corbeau GTS or the GT7...the only real difference (in my mind) is the prescense/abscense of holes for a 4/5 point harness in the seat back (the GT7 has them, the GTS doesn't.) And the GT7s only come in black (I have the usual gray interior,) but I'm not terribly concerned about matching colors.

Here's some pictures:

GTS:

GT7:

With shipping and brackets, I'd be looking at about $1,000 for the GTSs and about $1100 for the GT7s.

Thoughts? Is the extra $100 worth the harness capacity?

Would you consider getting a racing harness and stuff to hook it up to and whatnot?

From a purely asthetic (I butchered that) POV, I like the look of the GTS better, personally. So I'd go with them myself, but I also have no intention of race harnessing my ride...

I'd like to have harnesses, but its not really a necessity.

I suppose it would be a case of if I had the capacity to do it then I would, if not oh well.

But yeah, I like the "look" of the GTS alot better than the GT7 too, but I'm hung up on the harness option...

Actually I just found the thread I've been looking for (thanks to 02SVTFOCI...)

Now I'm thinking about a set of these:

Only $599 for a set, and they're leather to boot.

Corbeau seats suck!!!!! Dont bother buying a corbeau. Ive owned a total of three. The GT7was my last seat from them. The quality is very poor and you pay big prices and the quality isnt any better then a seat you could buy at Pepboys. All three of the seats i had lasted me about a year each. The foam inside is very soft and you can feel all the steel contruction tubes. The sides of the seats take a beating when you get in and out and once the foam starts to wear our its start falling out on you floor. The only seats that i have seen from Corbeau that holdup are the one piece racing seats and you lose all you adjustmant features. Hope this gives you a little insight and saves you some money.

Thanks, it does...I kind of figured you were paying a lot for the name on those...I'll probably go with the leather ones I posted last night.

the harnesses are not really a necesity but i would not go back to the stock seat bealts for anything....i have never felt safer in the harnesses...and after my stock seats broke...(defect-the cable and latch broke allowing the seat to move freely without being able to lock in one place.) the stock seat belt would just have slowed down anyone from hitting the winshield if i would have been in a crash....with the harness you would hardly move at all...its takes a little getting used to but i love em!
these are what mine look like......

Harnesses can be a killer if you don't have roll-over protection. My Recaro's are intended for harnesses, with a sub-belt hole - but I'm not using anything but a lap belt until I have a cage.

Imagine a harness holding your upper body tightly in place while your car flips and the roof compacts 18" down to the doors. What's happened to your head? With lap belts you at least have a chance of being flung aside.

I'm not saying harnesses aren't safe....I'm saying there is a reason they aren't allowed in most SCCA activities unless you have a full cage.
