Im pretty sure you can take it off, but id say keep it, i dont use mine very much either. Or you could look into a new steering wheel, like a momo or a RS would look even better.
If you take a look at it........it looks like you will have to remove the steering wheel to take it all off.

Brandon.

The RS wheel from Ford allows you to keep the Airbag. I am serieously considering ot for my own car. I know they fit the model previous to the 05, and from what I can tell it should fit on the 05's as well. I spoke to my step-brother, who worked at a dealership for a while and he says the wheel should fit no problem with the 05.

Since what I would like to do is an RS interior on the 05.

unless its really that big of a deal id just leave them on, i dont use them either, but is it really worth going through all the hassel and potentially breaking or screwing something up?

I find it funny that he wasn't really asking for anyone's opinion on whether they would leave the original wheel on or not. He wants the cruise control off and he wants an air bag. If you don't know how to do that, do you really think you will change his mind? ;-) Sheeesh people.

At any rate, have you tried removing the old wheel first and looking at the electrical connections for the cruise? I'm confident that you could integrate them into the turn signal rod with a new switch. I believe the wheel controls are only held on with a few screws and some wiring harnesses. Good luck!
