color matching OEM plastic

Hey guys I was wondering if there is any paint that would match up to the OEM black plastic in my 05 Zx3 (black/grey/charcoal interior). There is a cigg burn (not me and never again) on my center console right on the left edge near the drivers seat. The burn/melt is really small but big enough to bother me. If I could find some paint to match I could sand, fill and paint the burn to fix my console. I looked into getting a new console, but I think that would be a waste if I could fix it. That and I couldnt find a black center console anywhere. I havent tried talking to the Focus Salvage guy yet though, Ill shoot him a Pm.

Do you have an armrest? There's a black armrest one going for $150 shipped down in the Marketplace.

Otherwise, I do believe Ford sells paint, lemme find you the part number...

The "stash box" of which you speak is considered the Focus armrest. It flips up or down and has a lid, it holds approximately a pair of sunglasses? Do you have 1 cupholder or 2 BEHIND the ebrake? IIRC armrest-consoles only have one rear cupholder, and the 2 up front.

The consoles for atx or mtx are identical, they swap perfectly. Actually all the consoles swap, whether you had an armrest before or not, mtx or not...

Anyway, I know I've seen the part # for the black/dark charcoal recently. I'm positive it was on fj but their Search feature sucks so bad I can never find things again when I'm looking for them...

haha yeah I searched everywhere, including FJ .Their search does suck, no offense FJ! Mine has 2 cupholders up front and then behind/below the armrest is a square kinda weird cupholder and right below that a regular cupholder. So do you think Id have to get a whole new one or fix this? (and thanks by the way!)

It really depends on the burn... buying a whole new one seems like a lot of money just for a cigarette burn. Can you take a picture of it?

There is a paint that you can use. Go to any Dupont certified paint store and tell them what you posted here. They are going to recommend using the Dupont Vinyl paint. You'll need your interior paint code, located in driver's door jamb and possibly the VIN number. At any quality Dupont certified paint store, they'll also have a specrophotometer...it basically takes a picture of the surface that needs to be painted and cross-references it with your paint code to get the best possible match, so be sure to bring the car down there with you. The vinyl paint is ready-to-spray, provided the paint mixer didn't mess up on the tints. At some shops it's possible to get it mixed in a spray can, but if that isn't available at that Dupont certified paint store, then I recommend a Preval sprayer. The Preval comes in handy for those that don't have a spray gun or spraycan. It's generally costs $5.95-$10.95. This cover's the paint portion of the problem, but generally when plastic burns it deforms. If possible please provide pictures.
