I think you can run a wire to an unused fuse maybe?

Otherwise, here's a bump... I'm not real good at wiring

well i no people are going to say that this is a bad way to run wire but i have had no prob. from the batt. go through the fender cut a x into one of the black plastic covers in the side of the car. (open your door and look at the side near the fender. the hole will lead into the car) near the kick panel. u will have to take the kick panel off. from there you can run it under the carpet. well it worked for me. just remember to use wire loom. im so big i cant get anywhere in the engine bay so this is what i did

If you hook something to the battery, will it be on always and sap the battery, or only on with the ignition, etc?

no if its connect to a toggle or some other kinda of switch, you can break the circuit thereby not draining the battery, but if theres no switch, yes it will drain.

Not sure if running straight to battery is a good idea, but more power to you, if that is what you want.

You can run the wire up at the top, by the bottom of the windshiled, wehere the vents are... Passenger side is best.
