Is that all it takes to pull the HVAC panel on an SVT to do this? Previous owner of my car put in orange plastic overlays over a lot of interior stuff, I kind of hate it but I'm used to it and don't really want to break anything in removal.

^^ Pretty much, then it's held in with "spring clips" that pop out easily. This bezel is durable and hard to damage.

Awesome. I didn't mind it too much in the 04 because I didn't notice, but in the wagon the A/C light comes on with the defrost and is a bit annoying. Thanks for posting.

Just did it, it's basically a ten minute job. Sniper, I don't know how you got the panel pulled out far enough to take that pic. I only pulled it far enough to get the connector off and it didn't feel like it wanted to come much further than that, not a big deal though. FYI for anybody that wants to do this, a right angle pick is handy to pry the connector tab up enough to pull the connector, I think it'd be difficult to get it off with just fingers.

Thanks for the info Sniper, +1

Actually I did the same thing you did, it took me about 10 mins at sundown while drizzling. The HVAC cables were holding you back, there's a tab on top you can undo to release them, I highlighted the other guy's how-to in the first post.

IDK, I imagine the '12 is completely computer controlled. Just my guess...

I seen a guy make a module and a custom A/C button to do the same thing for an Escape. So maybe it can be done on a '12, but it might not be this simple.

Hey guys, I did this last night in a parking lot while waiting for my dog grooming to be done. Took 5 minutes with the only tool being my house key. Fits nicely between faceplate and dash near the radio, popped the rest with hands, no damage, that faceplate is pretty sturdy.

Cheers,
Jo

Did it yesterday. Got the SVT so I had to pop out the 4 bolts. Outside of that, 10 min job out best. Good Stuff!
