short throw shifter installed?

I was driving my focus today and the distance it takes to put the stick in gear from neutral is alot shorter than it is on my moms honda. I know every car is different but is the stick on the other focus's short like that too? Is there a way i can check for the short throw shifting too? It has the stock knob and stock shift boot and stuff too.

It all depends on the car. Miata's have a REALLY short throw F350's have an enormous throw. No way to tell you if it's a STS or not without visual inspection. Does the boot seem to fit improperly. Is it bunched up ?
