swapping Gauges.. what do i need

ok ok ok so i'm really tired of my non-tach gauge cluster and want to hit up a local junk yard to grab me a factory cluster from a zx3 or something like that.. just a basic cluster w/tach, then i'll do my modifing to that (indiglo, needles, etc.) i know as far as actual fitment they fit but what is it i need for the tach, i know it can be done as i've seen it but what do i need.. pictures would be great..

thanks in advance

since your going with a OEM cluster with the tach, you need nothing its plugs in then works. that simple.

keep in mind tho your milage will be off, so write down your curennet milage and the new clusters to keep track of it from there.

yeah i know that one.. i'm tempted to pay a shop to reset it or however that works. but are you sure it's just plug and play.. i mean i know i have a tach on the digital readout if i select the option with the odo button.. but is it just that simple.

I'm looking to do the same thing but the mileage issue bothers me. I was considering just buying an aftermarket tach from Summit Racing or Auto Meter. Summit has some for aroun $40 to $50 I think. You would need a pod though. The Auto Meter gauges are around $100.

That'll be sweet. You'll have to post pics as soon as you get it done. I found a cluster I liked but the mileage was about 30k higher than what is really on my car.

well here's the deal though....... pay $300 to have the shop (stealership) "reprogram" your speedo, and you get a lovely sticker that states something about the odometer having been changed and whatnot slapped to your driver's side door. thus of course lowering your car's value if you ever decide to sell it (at least to a dealer)

yeah lol you could take the sticker off. never thought of that

don't try the swapping circuits thing over though, no matter how good you are at it.

it's been tried a few times, with no such luck. the last one I remember, turned on, gauges went crazy, and just had the dashes over the odometer....

but I can't stop you lol
