Connecting two neon tubes

Hello all, I just bought two neon tubes (10") for under the dash for driver and passenger side. They both have the cigarette plug. can i cut them apart and wire them to the battery or fuse box? im sure if i tear them apart theni can't return them. Also what would be better connecting them into the fuse box or battery? I would be using a switch to control them.

You can cut the plugs off and hardwire them, make sure to put a switch and a fuse in the line. You can always wire them to come on with the parking lights.

cut them off, and plug them into the switch, then the main power for the switch into the fuse box.. that's how mine is hooked up.

If you need any help just let me know

incorect.. since ford is now selling cars with interior lighting standard.. you may have lights.. rules are they can't flash, and the source has to be under the window level.

I've asked around on base and off.. on base is more strict and they don't even care about my new setup.. i've rolled thru the gate with it on and they told me it was interesting, and the only thing i might get hit on is it being distracting to the driver but as far as they cared.. it was fine.

out here if its a barely visible glow in ur cabin viewed from the outside they dont care ... any color or pattern ... they wont care ... but if u put the tubes visible ... they will care ... i have 2 9 inch led strips from advance and i cant even see them from the outside ... and i have alot of lights inside and addin more soon ... all else fails flip the switch on the side of the road pulled over ... i wired mine into my remote wire to my amp so i lose a switch and can just power down stereo to turn EVERYTHING off ... its a great idea for ya

please dont hack this up.

do NOT just wire to the fuse box unless you know the total amperage of the lights and have an empty fuse slot available to handle the proper current. You can add switches really easily anywhere you want, or wire them properly to come on with another OEM based feature.

just tell us where you want them, how YOU want them to come on, and I'm sure one of us will gladly help you do this the right way, IE. colored wiring, fuse, proper connectors, wiring diagrams for your vehicle, etc. I can walk you through this install.

I didn't mean putting them into a switch. just adding one to the available slots next to the switches for the info setup reset and mood lights buttons near the shifter under the HVAC. but i will let you all know when i do it.. i'll post a new thread when the time comes.
