Non-power doors to power doors question!

I've got a 00 zx3 base model no power anything, but I was able to get my hands on some SVT doors(power everything!) Only problem is that I've been searching around on the forums and it seems that my car may not have any wires to power these doors since mine originally didn't come with power, is this true or will my doors be powered? How can I tell?

Thanks in advance!

You still need the dash wiring harness, GEM, and fuse block if you wanna do a "bolt-in" power install. Since you already have the doors, you're pretty much halfway there! The only pain I can think of will be getting to the under dash wiring.

I haven't been to the computer in a while but thanks that helps a lot. Any idea where i can get a diagram to do the wiring? Do you mean i gotta get a new dash wiring harness or just get to mine and do the wiring, whats GEM stand for, and I'm guessing i can just get the fuse from ford right? Sorry its a lot of questions this is my first time doing this.

Well, theres the option to create your own harness. Pick up a Manuel for your Foci, and use it to assist you.

I had the same problem. I got to almost being done, but then I realized that I needed a dash harness.

I just took a look today and found there actually is power in the dash harness, but my fuse block does not have a slot for the fuses for the front and rear doors. So now I am attempting work this situation out. Its a fairly simple process... if you have ALL the parts, and a simple understanding of a car and its wiring.

I have the power mirror's and locks working, the hardest is the power windows, I have been working with several others members here and they have been a great help.

Just hang in there, if you have any questions contact me!

I'll be picking up a chilton book tomorrow so I can get a good look at the wiring diagram but I must admit that wiring is definately not my strong point.

So that means I can use the dash harness as a power source right? I'm guessing its not this easy but any chance I can just buy a fuse block or get it from a junk yard from a focus with all the power options and use that?

Yeah I'm probably gonna contact you later after I take a look at the diagram.

Thanks all!

But still what is a GEM unit?

GEM = Generic Electronic Module. It controls your interior electronics.

Ohh, and get the Ford Wiring Diagrams manual for your model year instead. It has detailed descriptions of ALL the wiring in your car. It shows you all the connectors/plugs in your car, and what each wire in the connector does.
