Carpet squares for interior mods....

I found these at Lowes. They come in a box of twenty for about $50. They are 18" square with adhesive stripes on the rear.....they hold nice, and are supposed to be easily removed. They are indoor/outdoor.....and feel pretty tough. About 3/16" thick, they have multiple uses in a car. I think they could even be used as sound deadening in a number of places.

They are a dark gray, slightly lighter in color than my black carpets.....but they are a perfect match for most of the panels in the trunk. I'm going to completely line my trunk with these things, under the stock carpets/panels.

Happy modding.

Cool. Now all those bodies you cram back there will be more comfortable.

I think lining the rear shock towers with these things would cut down the noise.....and I'm going to line the splash shields in the wheel wells. Water won't hurt the things....

Huh, guess I'm confused.

You can get bulk rolls of interior carpeting for 10 bucks, and get a can of spray adhesive. No seems that way.

You should get sponsored by Lowes..lol

It depends on what you want I guess.....this carpet is exterior grade, and won't hold moisture. In squares it's easy to deal with....no spray adhesive. I've used bulk carpet before....for small jobs these squares are ideal. And being removable without shredding has it's advantage also. The color and texture are right too....

Yeah...they're the things you see right above the wheels. On the rear they feel exactly like the carpet squares. I'll pull the splash shields off and see how much carpet will go in there......behind the shield of course.

The front splash shields are plastic.....I've had them off before. The carpet squares will line the inside of the front splash shields pretty well. They should stick nicely. The rears might need some extra spray adhesive. If you try this, make sure there is some air space between the new carpet, and the body. (allows everything to dry off after it gets wet).

ah ok,
at first I thought you meant to just stick these things just on the outside lol

How do you leave space between the body and the stuff?

There's already some air-space back there.....and these carpet squares are thin. It'll be a matter of cutting them properly. I don't expect to completely cover everything.

The front splash shields have a lot more free space behind them....so it should be an easier job. And I think lining the fronts with this carpet will bring more noise reduction......we'll see.

Inside the trunk I think I can line the shock towers, but I've never had those panels off yet.
