rear seat delete

well i finally got around to taking my rear seats out and building my rear seat delete. i covered it in leather and am very pleased with the outcome. the racing seats and harness bar are both supposed to arrive this week. please excuse the cell phone pics ill try and get some better ones this weekend with the digital camera :) and the lines in the pictures are shadows from tree branches.

this will be painted black

Nicely done. Not sure I'd be crazy about leather as it might scratch easier.

What kind of wood did you use for the boards?

And is that a COSDEVSVT harness bar? I ordered one and can't wait to get one either.

But I love the openess when you open the hatch. So much more room!

thanks! i used 1/2" plywood and if i put something in the back i put a towel under it. it is a harness bar made by him that i picked up from an FJ member yesterday. he does a really good job with them. it was fun making it and its easy to take out with the hinges. i loves it :)

Oh there's hinges?! Can you take some pics with it open? That's killer.

I wanted to do something like that also but I made mine to snug around the sides...lol. And then my sub box bolts to the floor just behind the seats. Hope the bar still fits around it.

i can get some pics of it open this weekend. if you look close you can see the two hinges in the center, one towards the bottom, one towards the top. the seat delete is in two pieces and hinged so it doesnt fold completely in half but it folds into a V shape so i can pull it out easily.

They have torx bit heads. I am not sure what size you need though. You will probably want to use some PB blaster on the bolts also. Some are really in there good. Just spray it and let it sit over night. Be careful not to get any on anything cause that stuff stinks.

When I was attepting the RSD I accidently kinda stripped one of the heads to get the seats out. I am not sure what to do. Anyone got any ideas?
