DIY: Matching Shift Knob

So I recently put the CFM short throw in my car and it really made me start to pay attention to how much I didn't like my shift knob. I looked online and eventually I'll break-down and throw down 60 or 70 for a nice MOMO piece but I wanted something to hold me over. This is what I came up with using the stock knob:

It was pretty simple to do overall:
First off my stock knob was already starting to peel and flake off so i decided i didn't really care what I did to it considering evntually it will be replaced. So i took a VERY sharp knife and VERY carefully scratched off the rest of that silvery crap (underneath is black).

Only place i know where to put this... Just want to say:
