easiest *true* short shift ever?

ok, on the 09 ses, it looks like the tranny is hardlinked via some kind of ball joint to the stick halfway up. havent tried yet, but if i move the location of this hardlink up, shouldn't it change the geometry of the shift travel? the top of the stick will move much farther will the same motion than that bottom, due to the geometry of angles. chop the stick a little too, and i would imagine that you can influence the travel and the length enough together to create a fundamentally shorter shift. have no pics, camera is broken....

yup, thats what the steeda shifter does. the only problem with the DIY is that it slips a lot.

so i did the move up, and here is the verdict.
shifts are definitely shorter, not like now i have a racecar! shorter but, more crisp? more ROBUST? haha i dont know the words. It does require you to cut the plastic lip inside the boot to allow the knob to thread back over the stick, but its an easy fix. will cut the stick abit this week, and post an update.

update #2. Wife got in the car to drive me to work so she could take it for the day.
She pulls out onto the street, gets through 3 gears and says...
"what? what did you do?"
What? i asked
"the shifter thingy, its shorter, or quicker or something. i thought you weren't gonna buy this for like another two months?

lol. so far so good.

search up a post by nemisisenforcer, he outlined all the shifters and this is his how-to on how to shorten the throw, so agree it helps, others say it won't do anything. I've done it and I like it and for free, why the hell not, right? I also cut my shifter down about an 1.5".

yeah i know there were posts about shortening a cable to firm up the throws on a chopped stick. I am not sure.....
there is actually no cable on mine, it is a rod that is hardlinked. i know it makes a difference because i can prove through geometry.
say the required travel is 2 inches front to back, to change from 1st to 2nd gear. it is much more efficient to travel 2 inches linked to the top of the fulcrum extension than the bottom, nearest the fulcrum. like this.
easiest *true* short shift ever?-shortstick.jpg
its rough but i think it makes sense.
