Need help removing CD player zx4

Hey fellas. I'm driving a 2005 ZX4 SE and I'm having a little trouble with my CD player. I tried to eject my CD the other day and it just made this grinding sound and then said NO DISK on the display. SO I need to get the CD player out of the dash unfortunately in this model the CD player is integrated into the same unit as the AC and the radio so I think I'm gunna have to removie the entire thing to get at the CD player . I don't know the best way to remove this unit... Any suggestions? Thanks.

I don't think the audio unit is attached to the heater controls. The controls are screwed into the bezel (the part around the audio unit). This just pops off, leaving the audio unit still screwed onto the body.

To get the bezel loose, slip a small flat blade into an upper corner, and carefully pry. Be careful not to scratch/dent the dash. Put a piece of plastic against the dash...to lever against. There are six clips around the edge you'll have to pop loose. After the whole thing is loose, unsnap the lighter plug, and let the bezel hang down.

Then you'll see the screws that hold the audio unit to the body. Use a bunch of towels to keep from scratching things. If you're out of warranty, it'll be cheaper to buy a new system....

What I did to get the disc out when this happened to me was use another cd to push down on the one that is stuck in there and then hit eject and pull the stuck one out with the other one. That will at least get your cd out so you can replace the head unit without losing the cd.

This is good thanks guys. I'll try the CD trick first but if that doesn't work I'll use the blade to get the unit out. I have two questions. One for each of you. The first is that you, bluefront, said that there are six clips around the edge. How do I know where thos clips are or how to pop them out? And you, C.Mills, said that I could save the CD before replacing the head unit does this mean that I have to replace it? I mean the CD player still plays the disk thats in there it just wont eject. Are you saying that I'm going to continue to have this problem until I replace it? OUCH my wallets starting to hurt I already have enough work to do on this car.

Just unclip the bezel and the radio is held in with 4 7mm screws. It's cake.

^^^^^The clips are on the upper and lower corners, and the last two are in the middle of the long sides. Once you get one to unsnap, you can see the next one.

Once that CD problem starts happening, it's likely to continue, even if you get the cd out.......unless you're real lucky.

You don't have to replace it. I replaced mine only because I had a Pioneer h/u that i had taken out of my truck just layin around and I was tired of cd's getting stuck in the factory one lol. Sorry for the wallet pain. (When you try the cd trick I mentioned, you may have to use the 2nd cd to kinda push the stuck one back in a little so it will catch the eject mechanism.

Hey guys just wanted to give you an update. I tried the CD trick and unfortunately it didnt work. I removed the entire audio unit from the dash and decided after getting it out that it was much to complicated for me to do myself so I put it back in broken. I can live without a CD player till I save up enough to buy a new one. Thanks anyways for all your help. See you guys around.
