Dash kit - vinyl or painted?

Im looking to make a few changes to the interior of my ride. The first thing Id like to do is add some color to the interior. I was wondering what the advantages/disadvantages of vinyl dash kits (such as this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ksid=p3907.m29) vs. painting it would be. Ive noticed that some of you have done this to your own car and I was wondering which way is cheapest, easiest, and looks the best?

Don't waste your money. You can paint and get something that will look wayyy nicer. Can of primer, super fine sandpaper, spray paint of your choice, and clear coat. A lot more fun too. You get to learn how to take your interior out, lol.

Yeah I had a question regarding that. I did that to my truck (painted) and it held up but It was an old project truck. I want to do a glossy black for the Focus I drive but I need a HOW TO LIST. Let me know. Thanks.

Cool

I vote for painting it yourself. Plus like the first guy said you get to learn how your car comes apart and it is really easy to do if you just take your time. I did it on the interior of my Focus and it came out good, except when I started rushing on the inserts in the door and it began to drip since I sprayed to much paint. But live and learn and i will do it the right way later. Here or some links on here. Good Luck.

I was thinking of doing the speaker covers on the sides of the doors. Is that a good or bad idea?

ive painted alot on my car since i got it and its cheaper than any other method.

i dunno if you can pull off doing the speaker covers because there are a lot of holes and sanding down the primer and getting decent coverage could be difficult.

But in my experience if you take it slow, and you are patient you can paint anything. Just make sure to prime and sand and wait a good amount of time between coats. Also, clear coat the shit out of anything you paint, or else you may see chipping in the future.
