Both your links point to a standard non-tach cluster...

Anyway if your car is a 2005+ (assuming its the same in Canada as it is in the states) then you have a duratec engine, and the earlier clusters will not work without investing a small fortune to either swap your engine and wiring to the earlier models, or paying an electrical engineer who's familiar with the ford SCP and CAN data busses to design and manufacture a one-of-a-kind electronics translator.

I've extensively researched swapping the SVT cluster (same as the euro st170 cluster) into my 2004 duratec , and its just flat out not worth it.

Sorry mate, just get a cluster with tach from the same model year and engine to be safe.

cheers,

-- michael

Hi again,

Check your engine to be sure you have a duratec (i'm 99% sure that you do, but lets be safe.) You can tell by following the pictures here:

http://www.focushacks.com/index.php?modid=77

Anyway, if you have the duratec/PZEV engine (last picture on that page) then the cluster you linked to won't work.

For the duratec, ask any seller before you buy if the electrical plug on the back of the cluster is 26 pins or 32 pins, and you need the 32 pin version.

cheers,

-- michael

hey aarons. heres what you can do. go to cfm and get a for racing tach driver. it should be able to work with the coil on plug ignition. then get your self a good autometer 5 inch tach and the brackets that hod it to the dash. now mount this thing somewhere near your other gauges. theres no need for it to be up on the dash in plain veiw. dpending on what you order you can get a programmable shift light as well. if done properly it would look nice in the car and not stick out like a sore thumb.

Get a ford racing tach driver, theres install instructions on here. Grab a tach under 4" and mount it on the steering column to the left of the speedo. I did it that way and it turned out pretty nice.
