Upgrade to tilt steering column question.

I've searched but haven't found anything on this topic. I found a tilt steering column that I like to add to my not-tilt zx3. The column I found is from a focus with an automatic. Are there any differences between the columns from an auto trans and manual.

I wouldn't think so. No reason for it to have different mounting points etc. Big job though as you'll have to unarm the airbag to remove it from the steering wheel. Be careful.

That is no big deal. I can't count the number of times I did it on my subaru!

There's actually a write-up in the how-to section on this! I'm planning to do it too eventually.

It's hard to find steering columns from 05-07s in the junkyards that aren't completely fubar though. x_x

Its really an easy mod, at least it was on my 2004 sedan, and I can't think of any reason why the steering columns would be different.

I think maybe it took 30-40 minutes, and that was including the time to disconnect the battery, and let it sit for 5 minutes to be safe.

the how-to is pretty thorough, and should be just what you need.

cheers,

-- michael

Thanks guys! I'll find the write up. The search function on this site doesn't come back with the needed results sometimes.
