Along came a spider...

Ok, I'm putting this thread here because this concerns the inside of my car. Tonight I was driving home in the rain. I'd almost hydroplaned like four times but thanks to the traction control I never even had a problem. I get into town in a great mood and suddenly I see a spider on my windshield, smack dab in front of me. Now I hate spiders. I won't get into it but we have a history. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate them keeping the insect population in check I just don't like them doing it on my turf, so let's just say I take a separate but equal stance on the situation. So this thing, it's light brown all over, common variety i guess, and probably harmless(???) Bout the size of a nickel, maybe slightly more, that's legs included. So, I kinda freak. I stop and pull over into a church parking lot in a not so decent part of town to get this thing off my windshield. It was right in my sight after all. This guy invaded my air space, he was gonna pay. So i park and turn my light on in the car, then I grabbed my flashlight. There he is sitting on the a pillar almost between the pillar and the glass. I couldn't reach him there so I tapped the pillar next to him to make him move but instead he fell and I freaked out! I jumped out of the car into the pouring rain, dropping my flashlight, and frantically hitting my left leg while muttering a few things I won't repeat. After a second I realized everything was fine. I saw my flashlight rolling down the parking lot and picked it up. I started looking on the ground to see if I could see the spider on the ground, nothing. This meant that it had to still be inside... So here I am standing outside my car at 12:30 in the morning in the rain, in a bad neighborhood, in a church parking lot scared to death of a little old spider. I... am a girl... or at least I should be. lol j/k. So somewhere now inside the car there is a spider. I am getting rained on, and the only way to get out of there and get home were it's safe is to get back inside the care WITH the spider. Yes, I realized how funny it was while it was happening, but I'm not laughing just yet. I look around me trying to make sure that someone isn't around and then look at the car seat in front of me in a type of paranoia. I began to look around inside and on the ceiling just in case, with a military like precision similar to clearing a building in Iraq. Then I decided to go to the passenger side and look from there. I searched the top of the dash and low and behold the stupid spider is on the drivers side, headed towards the windshield. I rush over to the driver's side and get in. It's dead this time I thought. I grabbed an old wendys cup and waited for it to move into position for me to strike. That is when the unthinkable happened and why I am here today telling you this story. The bloody thing disappeared! I got out of the car and pointed my flash light down at the dash. It wouldn't I thought, no, not that, anything but that... It did. The stupid thing crawled down into the defrost vent! I rushed back into the car and turned the defrost on hoping it might blow it out or deter it from going further. I go back outside just in time to see it disappear into the bowls of the frigging car, all the while the windshield wipers just kept going right there in front of me. So I got back in to car, turned off the air and drove home. I was afraid that if I left the air on the stupid thing might get blown out at me! So now what do I do??? I've got a spider somewhere in the car! I really don't freaking like this. I mean I'm not terrified of the thing but my greatest fears at this point are having the spider crawl on my while I'm driving, having it get blown out through the ac onto me or my legs, HAVING LAY EGGS INSIDE THE %*#$@% CAR!!!! Then having them blown out onto me! You guys gotta tell me what to do! I'll light the thing on fire now before I drive it again! I can't rest until that spider is dead and I won't believe it until I see a body! I know nothing about the air system. All I know is that it went into the windshield defrost vent on the driver's side on the very far left and then went straight back, towards the gauges n stuff. Please help me, it's so so so so so friggin stupid, but please help me. Flame away... SPACE

DUDE! I am with you 110%. I feal exactly the same way as you towards spiders and would reacted just as you did. SO the only thing that came to mind was this. You saw him running along the pilar and the windown several times. I would lay some kind of trap there.... Perhaps some kind of spray? may stink the car up BUT YOU CAN CLEAN IT after the er is DEAD. Just dont do anything stupid like spray raid down ur vents... that could be bad

lol i can relate.. I hate spiders.. and mosquitos.. ugh.. i had this huge one flying all around in the car.. so my first reaction is to open the door and hope it goes out.. looking back it woulda been safer to open the window.. but hey.. it got out and nobody got hurt..
as for getting the spider out.. what about like a shop vac? stick it up against the vents and hope it sucks something..
theres some small spiders that like to reside behind my side mirrors.. i think i get them out only to walk thru a freakin web the next day.. hate it.. good luck with your spider problem!

That was one long story... but worth the read.
Not sure if you can get ahold of it, but an air compressor with a blower end on it down the vent might help.

Or do what loud suggested and "crispify his ass" lol

I think if you just run the heat on high it will take care of him, dry him right out into "instant spider". Course I do have to warn you that you'll end up with "spider dust" blowing out of your vents (lmao!)
