Angry Instrument Cluster

I bought an Instrument cluster with tach with an undisclosed odometer reading (and thinking it was cracked, its not )for my 2005 zx3 and installed it, everything is great except it has 50,000 miles where my car has closer to 30,000. I thought i could take it to a local speedo shop that advertises that they do odometers to get it fixed but they dont do this one. Anyone have any ideas or places that can do it other then Ford? Would i be better off trying to trade it for one closer to my milage?

There has to be a way to swap odometers. Everytime I see a thread like this pop up it's always in the back of my head. Don't know how, but there has to be a way to do it.

thats what i started wondering, if I knew where the memory was stored and could swap that... but that prob would take more then i am willing to do. I also have only put 5000 miles on it since i purchased it a year and a half ago, so waiting is out. I guess my best option is to sell it and try to find another one. It took me a month to find this one, very frustrating. why must ford make things so difficult? it has a stick, it should have a tach, my escape is an auto, and its got a tach.

the milage is stored in the cluster itseld. you can take it to ford and get it reflashed but its stupid expensive. but if it really bothers you then get it reflashed to the correct milage.

The problem is even if you have more miles on the OD than the car actually has it still constitutes odometer fraud...

Odds are the mileage is stored on an EEPROM that is hard-soldered to the cluster's PCB. If you can't swap the entire PCB between the two clusters and have the tach work with the tachless cluster's PCB then odds are you're SOL, unless you want to pay for Ford to change it.

^^ exactly what i said jsut more techincal, lol. you's have to have ford reflash the memory on the car. but now that you've had it on the car while and probably fogot the milage i'd jsut say screw it and save me the money, lol.

My Cluster has 26k on it, and my car has 50k on it. Ill trade you, lol. As it bothers me as well. Yes it is a full cluster.

Only difference is... Mine looks like this

The cool thing is... We arent that far from eachother, so it would work out easy. Let me know if you want to do it.

Well if you decide to sell it let me know. I want a Tach BAD. I work at Ford so I think I can find someone at work to change the mileage for me. So if you plan on selling. Remember me.
