I don't have any suggestions really pertaining to your question, but I can offer another solution if you're interested.

You can usually control Satellite radio right through the head unit as long as it's XM/SAT ready... no need for a separate unit. Most of XM's units are pretty flimsy. I've been using the Pioneer-made adapter (GEX-920XM) for a while now and it's great. Before that, I was using the generic XM adapter which was good but doesnt have as many features as the one Pioneer makes.

If you have a Pioneer headunit and it's XM/SAT ready, look up the GEX-920XM receiver. It's only about $100 and it's fantastic. If you don't, see if XM makes a generic adapter for your radio (which they'll only do if it's XM/SAT ready)

I would suggest going to myradiostore.com for a slightly cheaper version of the same radios that are sold on xms website. and as cookiemonster suggests i would go with a sat/ready deck and it will run it through your deck without having a bulky addition. i have 3 xm units myself. i have a roady2, inno, and sat/ready deck. i use the roady at home, the inno at work, as it is portable and can be used as an mp3 player also, and the sat/ready in my car when going between the other 2.

go to xm's site and you can usually pick up the radios (roadies) for about 5 bucks with a years subscription.
