'tis a good day for my '03

.....last several weeks, car had been stumbling at times (no codes), and the passenger side engine mount has needed replacing since I bought the car about a year ago. Pulled plug wires one by one (some cheap crap) to try and isolate if they might be contributing.....3 of the four wires had internals stay stuck to the plug.....pull the plugs, didn't look too bad, but gaps were all over the place, don't believe in any way the person who previously replaced them even checked them before install. Soooo, new Motorcraft wire set, new Motorcraft plugs (properly gapped), and a new engine mount from Village Ford installed this a.m., car feels pretty damn good to drive.

Feels a LITTLE stronger, hopefully mpg will be better as well, as I haven't been impressed with the gas mileage over this past year, considering engine size/output...it's got the dreaded 2.0 SPI, an anemic little engine if I do say so myself....LOL...my '05 Corolla - am letting son drive the 'yota for college, hence me driving the beater Focus - has a smaller engine - 1.8L, maybe 18 more horsepower, and WAY better gas mileage. Other than the SPI, I've found this to be a well sorted car as designed. This a.m. involved a lot of sweat and a bit of profanity trying to get the original mount off of the car...bolts came off without much trouble (sweat), but the mount, or isolator or whatever Ford calls it, did not wanna come off after unbolting...jacked the engine up and down a small amount, beat it with a rubber mallet a bit, jacked, beat, and it finally popped free (lots of profanity, thankfully I could do this in my garage and not in the driveway ;) ). Am very pleased with the results, am pleased with the forum deal with Village Ford (we used to live about 3 miles from Village Ford before moving south to the Knoxville area), have a job interview lined up (lateral transfer, same hospital, get to keep vacation and sick time accrued)....today has been a VERY good day :)

I hear you on the mount.. I do transmission work so I change mounts on various vehicles often.. None fought me like the mount on my old zx3 zetec car. I even had the car on a lift using a jack stand to pick up on the motor.
