I want to do a Front Clip swap.

I am sorry if I post this in the wrong place but I have not clue were to do it.
So right now I am thinking about swapping the front clip out on my car. I want to change it the Mk1 and do a SVT swap down the road.

But anyway is there anyone that would like to do the front end swap with me for a Stock Mk1.5 to Mk 1 front end?
Mine in not perfect but it is not dented up or rusted out. Does have some paint coming off at the bottom of the fenders. (I am going to fix this when I have the time) Front bumper is in nice shape, Fogs/Driving light work great, Head lights are in good shape, Hood in nice but someone scratched it up a bit over the winter.

I will get some pics later one for you all of anyone is interested.

I am willing to drive up to 150 mile form were I live. Hartland MI, 48353.
That covers most of Lower Michigan. That is covering (Outlaying places) South Bend, Elkhart, Fort Wayne, Lima, Findlay, Marion, Mansfield, Cleveland And eve thought its further then the 150 Akron as well.

He wants to put a svt front bumper on his '05, which you'd need the hood, fenders, headlites & grille & of course the svt front bumper cover. You'll also need to carve out a little on the inside of right side fender as the squirter bottle is on the right side vs the left of the mk1 models.

I want to do the front clip swap. I did want to find a SVT front bumper but I just can do it, do to the cost. I have read the Pinned thread on it.
This would not be the first or the last time I have done a front end swap on a car/truck. I know what I will need to do it, I just need to find someone that wants the newer front end off the 1.5.

My mistake, the word 'clip' means much more than simple outside bolt on body sheet metal and trim, it literally means cutting at some line to take EVERYTHING in front of or back of that line. A line COMPLETELY cut through the car. A 'front clip' would include engine/trans as well as the entire front end and suspension. Often it means the entire front or rear HALF of the car. At least to the body guys here.................the car gets 'clipped' or cut in two.

I would have to say the word "Clip" can be used either way. When I was going to school for Auto body and Collision we used the term for any complete front end replacement, Be it Frame repair or replacement or just body panel replacement.

Of course word meanings can change over time............I can only say what the body guys here did in the day. A 'clip' coming up to the shop would be one half or slightly less of a car, it was torch cut in two and dropped on a trailer to deliver. We had like 3 body shops surrounding our family garage and they all referred to them like that.

Uh, saying that is a 'complete front end replacement' though? Nada, you have missed the use of the word 'complete' there. It means EVERYTHING. Can't be complete without that. Now if one said complete body panel replacement, or complete suspension replacement, or complete engine or trans replacement, all of which are included with a 'clip' to make it complete.................you begin to see the issue there? The word then no longer has meaning, you have neutered it.

Methinks the auto body teacher to blame there and seeing the ones I have, no surprise at that. The ones at our school were incompetent. We had one that took his entire engine apart based on a missing condenser taken from the distributor, he had to be shown, he could not figure out what was wrong with it. The 427 Galaxie with a RACE MOTOR that he built partially to wipe out my brother's street driven AMX 390 (he did not like my younger brother at all, too many questions asked he could not answer) was a fiasco, the car would not run faster than the high 13s while we were dipping below mid 12s with less speed equipment than him. He was so upset he quit the school and went elsewhere.

One of the body shop teachers also went to jail over chopping up stolen cars somewhere in there IIRC. He had that same younger brother's best friend helping him, that young man went to jail too. What a waste, a sharp young man, he just couldn't stand to wait to get success. Later killed in a drug sale gone bad when he got out of the pen and couldn't make it the normal way. HIS older brother at one time was my best friend too, there through the 60s for a while the 4 of us were inseparable.

I agree and no argument there. Perhaps not for the same reason though.
