Hey, Grand Pooh. I came with the idea, when I did conversion from H4 headlights to separated H7 and H1 sectors. I drive euro MK1 focus. So without all the wire stripping and so, just open the relay box under the hood, find both low and high beam relays. Use a jumper wire with a diode soldered on it, I used, 22 Gauge with 1N4007 (that's what I got in stock) from the high beam relay coil to the low beam relay coil. The diode is simply to cut off the reverse voltage, i.e. when you turn on low beams - not to turn on high beams at the same time. If you're interested, let me know to send you some photos of the process and step by step instruction - it takes just about 5 minutes to complete :)

EDIT: There are plenty of non- or minimum-evasive options for turning the lights on/off, just specify what exactly you want to achieve, sorry if you did that, I got some troubles reading all posts (character encoding and stuff, working on it).

I may be potentially interested in doing this but having the circuit hooked up to a switch so I can choose between regular highs or the combined
