Front OE bumpers w/ black trim

What year Focus came with front bumpers with the black hard plastic chip guard on the bottom? My 2000 ZX3 has the black trim all around, except on the bottom of the front bumper, and I think it looks kind of dumb and unfinished and makes the bumper look like it was (probably) replaced, and two, I want that chip trim because I got a paint chip in my bumper not too long ago at literally exactly the spot that would have been black.

It seems like only the 2000's were black trimmed or something?

Here's a rather old picture of the car, you can see the bottom lip of the bumper I'm talking about, and if you look closely you can see the paint chip on it.

my old 2001 zx3 was exactly like yours, it had black plastic on sides and on doors, but not on either bumper. Not sure if mine had front end work on it though

Mine has it on the rear bumper, so I must assume they made front bumpers with it also. Last owner hit a small deer with the car, it wouldn't be farfetched to say he replaced the front bumper.

I know this is off topic but are those the stock 15's without covers? Did you do anything to give it a finished look, I'm missing two of the lug nut covers but think I'm just going to remove them all. Clean car

That's a bit of an old picture. I bought gloss black solid McGard lug nuts, which makes it look way better. If you're going to remove the hub covers you'll need solid lug nuts as opposed to ones that are open; you don't want salt and crap getting in there and seizing your lug nuts on. Also the car has new, much better and slightly bigger tires on it now and the SVT suspension, so it sits quite a bit higher. I'm going for the old school Rally look.

In another thread on this site, someone found BMW center caps that fit perfectly inside the small hole on these wheels, that way you still have covered hubs yet retain the open look. They never actually followed up on it and said which model of BMW they were off, though. I think I'm going to take a gamble buying them online, I measured the inside diameter of the wheel hub openings (but forgot what they were) and a certain type of BMW center cap does indeed fit them, at least diameter wise. I'd obviously sand off the BMW logo and paint them black.

Excellent, thanks for the info, I'm going to give that a shot. I think it's a better look.

The 2000 ZX3 that I am in the process of building for my daughter has black all around including the front. I am painting the car cobalt blue firemist and am going to wrap the trim with "carbon fiber" look except the rear hatch trim that will be "chrome" wrapped. We can't decide what to do with the side mirrors leave them black or paint them body color.

hlr paint the side mirrors body colour (yeah Im canadian) and if there isnt any other chrome on the car do the back carbon fiber also... I hate when stuff doesnt match up and i feel it will look like you did the car then grabbed a hatch from a scrap yard... but if there is more chrome it may look ok....

Bonesacked... Easiest way to tell if your bumper has ever been replaced is to look at it in good sun, very close.. stock bumpers and body will never match up perfect.... bumpers and car arnt painted with the same batch of paint and even some times not even at the same place.... as for the black trim... maybe just buy some spray paint and paint the bottom of the bumper black... My car's rockers are GONE! so i wwent and found a saturn and grabbed some covers off it and cut them to fit.. now i have to paint my back bumper black to make it look stock, or at least better.

Yea, since the bumpers are actually black underneath all the paint and primer, I've thought about sanding off all the paint and stuff on that lip then painting it with some bedliner or something to get the rough texture of the other trim. If I can't find an OE silver bumper with black scuff trim I may just end up doing that.
