Thought I would post up a thread of the various links to the various hoods on the market today for the Ford Focus. There are a lot of different versions out there including tons of European stuff that is pretty rare here in North America (also when doing internet searches the hoods are called ‘bonnets’ in europe). 2000-2004 North American focus models including the wagon all have the same size hood and as far as European stuff goes, I am wagering a good guess that they are the same out there also. Of the hoods on the market, carbon fiber (also abbreviated as CF) is hugely popular but there are ones made of other materials, fibreglass and of course steel. There are also some clear lexan type hoods also that are see through but I haven’t seen one for the focus yet. Either way, hoods can do several things for your focus besides just ‘looks’ but also can help vent the engine bay, reduce weight (CF models).
Also when shopping for a Carbon Fiber (CF) hood, make sure that the edges are rolled and that the surface has a UV coating. It helps protect the surface and finish of your new hood. A open piece undersiding is also a bonus. CF hood manufacturers state that hood pins are required but from what I have seen, they are not needed unless travelling at higher speeds constantly comes into play.
A side note, just incase the manufacturers update the links to their website, I included the main website link first which is searchable on all the sites incase they change location of the pages.
Anyway here goes......

VIS
www.visracing.com
VIS is one of the best hood manufacturers out there. They are highly recommended and anyone owning one of these hoods has been nothing but happy with their choice. VIS makes their hoods out of carbon fiber (CF) and offers three different designs for the focus. Of the three models they offer, the Invader seems to be the most popular. Both the Invader and EVO hoods feature vents in the design to help feed the engine bay with cooler air. The fitment of the VIS hoods is also very supurb.

Cervinis
www.cervinis.com
Cervinis along with their very elaborate body kit for the focus also has the “Mach 5” hood. Another very popular hood on the market, features a symmetrical design including two hood vents up near the back of the engine bay. The hoods are made of fiberglass so they don’t reduce the weight as much as a carbon fiber hood would but they are lighter. They also guarantee their fitment according to emails I have sent them in the past. Also the hinge and latch areas of the hood are steel reinforced and they also guarentee a wave free finish.

Kaminari
www.kaminari.com
Kaminari, another big body kit company for the focus has a nice hood with several different options. The hood features a central hood scoop/vent and offers the hood design in complete carbon fiber (CF), with carbon fiber (CF) inserts or made of fiberglass. Definitely will compliment any focus out there on the street.

APC
www.4apc.net
APC also makes a carbon fiber (CF) hood for the focus. It features a dual vent setup placed over the header area of the engine bay. It’s a nice design but not as popular as the others on the market. From what I have heard, the fitment is pretty decent considering it’s low cost as compared to the others on the market.

Saleen
www.saleen.com
Anyone with any Ford background knows what Saleen has to offer to the market. They have a nitrous ready focus model out there with a very detailed exterior styling kit. They have a hood that comes with those Saleen focus packages but not 100% sure if it’s just a OEM hood cut with a mustang hood scoop mounted on or not. You will have to contact them if your really curious but in all honestly, I have talked to a guy that did that mod to his focus and all he did was use a hood scoop from a mustang and mount it on his stock hood. You get the exact same look in the end. Click the link below to see the mustang hood scoop I am talking about, taken at the sport compact nights show I was entered in. As for the car, I don't know the guys name but he's from Winnipeg, Canada and is on the Jet.

Steeda
www.steedafocus.com or www.steeda.ca
Steeda has finally come out with there own designed hood. It is unique compared to all the others out there that I have seen by the major manufacturers since it offers a 'louvered' design. It's a bit dramatic but would look awesome on a car with a body/lip kit. The hood is made of fiberglass.

CFX Bodywerks
www.carbonfibrefx.com
This company makes some unbelieveable CF hoods. They are available in different colors and look very very awesome. I have seen some pics of them, definitely check out the website. On a side note, the hoods are very expensive (around $800USD or $1000CDN) but they offer one if not the highest quality CF hoods out there for the focus that I have come across yet. They can even CF logos as well as designs into their hoods. Like I said, by far the best of the best out there. They also don't recommend hood pins (which look pretty awesome as it is).
Also to add, the CFX hoods come with pre-drilled holes for the washer fluid nozzles unless otherwise specified.

Focus Central
www.focus-central.com
Focus Central offers a OEM Carbon Fiber (CF) hood which I am sure is supplied by another manufacturer and basically rebadged as a FC hood. I don’t much more about it, not much to really say cause it’s an exact OEM replica except in CF. Check it out at the link below. They also used to offer a CF hood with a single ram air type hood vent directly over the air filter (VOLANT type intake or short ram filter location) but it’s not on their site anymore. You can see pics of it on their demo cars if you are wondering. You can purchase it through Mitch at http://www.zx3tuning.com/

Focus Central also used to sell a hood with a air scoop directly over the filter location of a short ram or VOLANT style intake. They don't sell them anymore but I did stumble across a website that does sell the same style hood. Check it out below.....

Wings West
www.wingswest.com
Wings west, an industry leader in exterior styling products also offered a rally type designed hood. For some reason though, they are not listed on the Wings West website though. The design is very very similar to the VIS EVO CF hood in the links above if not the exact same hood but rebadged by Wings West. I don’t have a link to this but in all honestly, if your going for that look, go buy it through VIS.

F2Focus
www.f2focus.com
Found this the other day on the forums here, features a unique 'reverse' hood scoop styled hood for the focus. It doesn't show directly how much the hood is or any actual mention of it but I think it's included in the wide body kit. Either way, it's another hood out there for the focus, check it out. I am assuming it's made of fiberglass but I did see somewhere it being mentioned that is might be in CF also.

There are also many other manufacturers that made carbon fiber hoods for various sport compact cars as well as the focus but they tend to be very expensive but also very awesome quality. I know one company a while back offered a CF hood (also available in different color CF) at around $1000+ US a pop with shipping. I can’t find the link to the sites but if I find it later I will definitely post it up. Along with that there are also the cheapies on ebay. Don’t cheap out on CF, hoods that are on sale for $100 when a quality one goes for 5+ times that, think about it. The other issue is the hood clip that holds the hood down to the car tends to break or be a weak point in the structure.
Also, there is a product which is referred to as hood pins which help hold down a carbon fiber hood to the car. Since CF is so much lighter then a stock hood (average CF hood is around or less then 15lb) it tends to flex, etc when your travelling at high speeds. To deal with this you can install hood pins to help secure the hood down (adds two points of contact).
There is also a very nice product on the market made by Redline Tuning (which can be used on all hoods including the OEM stockers) which are hydraulic hood lifts. You can see them at the link below. I got some friends that have them and the quality and workmanship is awesome. They are definitely a necessity to a show car focus plus nicely gets rid of the little prop bar that comes stock to hold up the hood. There is also a video on their website. There also is a lot of euro hoods (bonnets) out there in the UK. The ones I have seen are very dramatic with very very unique designs. Some of them are very nice but unfortunately being from Canada (North America) I have no clue what the manufacturers are over there. You can maybe ask someone at the main focus UK website at the link below.

I know that MOFOCUS has a really neat hood for his focus, not sure where he got it though and couldn’t find it on the site very easily. I believe it’s the same hood that TURBO TOM has on his focus. Either way, just make sure that the hood isn’t already listed in the links that I have supplied.
Hopefully this will help some of you when your choosing a new hood for your focus. I know there are always questions asked and I thought it would be beneficial to have an actual post (sticky) displaying information to the majority of the hoods out there on the market for the focus. If it helps out one person, it's done it's job. I have read TONS into hoods so if you have any questions PM me on here (Username 'S2') or email at s2steeda@yahoo.com
