Moved to the MK1 exterior area. You should get a few more peaks and more relevant answers here.

^^ this, or IIRC there is a hot wire that you can tap into, that only goes 'hot' when you click your lights to the "first mode" (i.e. the "mode" before turning on the headlights, aka Parking Lights). Theoretically, by doing this you can have "DTRL" by switching over to Parking Lights when you get in your car. Just an option, and you obviously need a volt meter to find the correct wire, unless you find a schematic or details somewhere.

If you wire it to the parking light, the wire to use would be the middle wire in your grille turnsignals

I'm not sure if I like the idea of wiring them to the parking lights. I'd rather have them on all the time (when the car is on, that is). But its not a bad idea. I never considered that.
So if i wire them to a 12v that only goes on when the car is turned on...say the cigarette lighter...then that should work? But I'm sure there is a better option tha the cig lighter. I'd have to run a wire all the way into the cabin fuse box for that, i think.

Get one of these:

http://www.amazon.com/Bussmann-BP-HH.../dp/B000GKEXK2

There is at least 1 (if not more) fuses that have power(in the engine bay fusebox) once you turn the key. Locate the fuse with a voltmeter, add you add-a-fuse there, and you'll have DRL's with your halos!

^^ That's pretty genius right there. If I ever get around buying the lights, Ima do the parking light way, but that Fuse cable is a brilliant idea, and great way to go. Always learning on this forum man
