I know I'm going against the grain with this statement, but all of the bulbs recommended so far aren't worthwhile at all if your looking for maximum light/lumen output. Buying a bulb where you can see a blue/yellow/whatever color on the glass means your buying a bulb that is filtering out perfectly usable light in favor of giving you "pretty colors".

If you're willing to trade reduced lumens for blue and yellow coloration then feel free to buy whatever bulb you feel has the best aesthetics. However, if your looking for the max amount of lumens from a halogen bulb then realize that *EVERY* bulb with colored glass is not going to give you that.

Personally, I've been using Philips Xtravision bulbs and have been very happy with them. They are a perfectly clear bulb so no usable light is filtered out and they are very inexpensive.

>This page< has a lot of good information on why you should avoid bulbs with colored glass in favor of bulbs that are clear.

The hella bulbs I was referring to were clear along with the piaa bulbs. I use the hellas in my subaru and they produce clean white light. I still have the factory bulbs in the high beams and there is a definitive color difference.

Always someone with the Daniel Stearn post, ALWAYS. I drive 90% at night, 45 minutes each way to work, on unlight county back roads. I know what works for me. I have tried the Sylvania bulbs Stearns recommends, they sucked.

The OP asked for opinions on good white light output. None on Daniel Stearns page will provide that, they will ALL be a yellowish color.
