Still showing the 00-04.

Was reading down and seen your message I've quoted, was going to say that this looks exactly how I would perform that exchange on my 05 ZX3.

Thanks for putting this thread together. Until I saw it last month I was going to have the dealer do this for me. You definitely just saved me some money.

As you can see in the photos my base was in pretty bad condition but it's all better now.

Hence I didn't have to worry about keeping track of a washer, reconnecting the antenna, etc. Unscrew the old base JUST until the base is loose, and the screw should stay in place, held by the plastic piece.
Just a note:

You don't need a helper to do this. If you unscrew the torx bolt about halfway, the antenna base can be lifted up, and twisted off from the top. Saves you the potential pain of misplacing the washer.

In the process of attempting this repair the T25 screw snapped in half. I now can't get the old base off (although it is a bit looser) any ideas for removing the remaining piece of T25 screw and what size replacement to buy? -- Thanks!

Well that sucks lol. Never heard of that happening before. Not sure what tip to offer without seeing a pic first.

Good point! here is the pics that I was able to take.
View of the piece of remaining screw (snapped off flush) base is still held on the top of car with what is left, so I can't seem to attack this from the top.

and here is the top piece of the screw that snapped.

Thanks for any tips you might give.

Have you tried using an EZ-out on it?
