The Military Machine and Corporate America

It is amazing to me how the US Govt and corporate america are very similar in the approach to business they take. When things get tough the first thing they do is cut personnel so they can save money. Do they go after people who are past the retirment age first, no. They attack the middle of the pie with people who have 8 to 12 years with the company. Hence the large number of 35 to 50 year olds out of work. This is the second go around for me. First time after Desert Storm, I was an Air Force Tech SGT with a promotion number to Master SGT. Now it is a company hiring young people making less and cutting the senior employees under the statement business is down. Just like the Govt. these businesses are getting rid of the stability in their companies and nailing their coffin shut eventually. Look at GM and Chrysler. The huge difference is the Military doing this costs lifes. Instead of retraining what they have and cut down on new recruits. I went into the Air Force in Jan 82 and in Oct 83 was jumping on Grenada. That was the biggest bozo event. It was a special operations nightmare, ask the Seals. One reason little to no middle ranked personnel to draw on experience. Things went a little smoother in Panama, still ask the Seals who attacked the private airport. I just needed tovent like all of you. To you guys and gals that are having your legs cut out right now, Hang-on. There is always a reason for everything. I have had time to help my son with his football highlight CD and also time to talk to him at length about his future. I would have never had that time if I was working. Yes money is tight but we work through it. Just one view from a frustrated man.

Wow, just read this 2 months later. No more cough syrup and late night thinking.
