Yeah, that's the reason they gave. I always park in neutral with the brake pulled, so not worried to much. May just have a friend help me install a remote start anyways.

Its not illegal. Most shops are not wanting the risk.

Just install a neutral bypass and you are good. If the car is in gear, it bypasses the start function. If not in gear, it will start. Pretty simple to do with a qualified shop and installer.

So do I. But that moment when your best friend drives your car, leaves it in gear and you watch it starry climbing a curb

They also have a way you can do it by going through a sequence every time you get out but it's a pain in the ass
