The key problem with the Sonic RS beyond its roots as an Aveo is the fact that the performance version uses the exact same 1.4L turbo as the base Sonic with no extra power or performance. Its an appearance package only, the Fiesta ST uses a 1.6 L turbocharged direct injected motor with closer to 200 hp.

And it gets disc brakes all around, rather than drums. Amongst other things. Do some more reading.

The Sonic RS is not a "performance" model. It was never meant to compete with the Fiesta ST. If they (Chevy) would like to put out a comparable vehicle to the Fiesta ST it will be badged as an SS.

Just like on the Camaro the RS emblem/badge/title whatever you want to call it just identifies it as having some sort of appearance package.

but they're rota's so they'll likely break in half causing me to go careening to my death over some cavernous mountain.

other than that I'm pretty excited they should look decent on the car.
