Rather play it safe. Hate having a clutch in bumper to bumper traffic. Puts unneeded wear on the clutch. That's why I float the gears so I don't wear out the clutch since you only need it for 1st and reverse. You can prolong the life of a clutch very much by doing so.

You can shift without using the clutch. Just gotta find the sweet spot in engine rpm for the gear.

There's no reason to have to do it. All vehicles do it. New or old. Do it in large trucks all the time. Won't hurt a thing unless your missing all the time.

Can you do it? Yes
Have I done it before? Yes
Am I comfortable doing it? No
Will I ever do it in my personal vehicle? Hellz no

All in all I see the plausability of your shifting procedure. Just not comfortable doing it myself. That's what the clutch is for.

By the way....this is not for spirited driving. Just for cruising around. If your in a hurry, you must use the clutch. I catch myself at times using the clutch. It's not for everyone.
