Focus st 170 2004 model

Hi I have just brought a 04 st 170 and the abs and traction control lights are on I have changed the fuses and they are still on I got a mate who will do a diagnosis test but I was wondering if anyone had any idea what it is I need to fix to sovle the problem and also is the car supposed to be idoling at 1500 rpm then after bout ten mins its lowers to 900 rpm ?

If you know someone with a scope on their scan tool, you can see the four wheel sensors speed readout (or signals) and compare the output on each one. A good scope (4 channel is best) can show the actual signals in real time. If you have one with no or vastly different readout, you know where to start. If you want to take a chance and it doesn't cost anything, clean the wheel speed sensors and "chopper" wheels, clear the codes and drive the vehicle and see if the light returns on. If not, you got lucky and it didn't cost anything to do this. Good luck. Moderator, please move this topic and responses to brake and suspension section.. Thanks, a car nut.
